Annie Auditions

Yesterday on February 24th I tried out for the play Annie and it was awesome! 100 girls tried out in all then they asked 30 girls to go to the callbacks and I was one of those girls and everything gave me the jumpies. The Jumpies are when you are so nervous or Excited that everything makes you jump. Well I had those jumpies and I was excited and nervous. I knew I was good because they had asked me to go to callbacks but at the same time I wondered if I was good enough. It didn’t help when the setup of it all was totally different then what I did last time. The first time it was boys and girls and everyone tried out at the same time and it was only kids and almost everyone got in. But in the Annie tryouts it was grownups and kids and it was only girls. So this is how the tryouts went, there were five different times that the girls tried out and the grownups would tryout next week but at the same time it felt like they were there. The first tryouts around 12 girls walked in and you would sit for about five minutes then they would call your group in. They teach you a song in our case it was It’s Hard Knock Life and then they would line you up. When they were done lining you up you would all sing together and then they would split you up into groups of 4 and they would go down the groups and groups would sing and then finally they would have you sing solo down the row. Then they would teach the dance moves and you would practice a bit and then the same process but you wouldn’t do it solo. Then they told us break time and we went to sit down for a few minutes. Then they told us to come back and they read a list of names off from our group around 6 names to 8. The girls that’s names didn’t get called left and the girls that did stayed. The girls that stayed had to get in a line and we had to ACT AND SING at the same time! They did the same process  except with solos and then they had us go off for a few minutes again and then they called 3 to 5 names out of that group that they wanted to see the next night. The next night we went and they had the girls gather around the piano but to our surprise we weren’t singing It’s a Hard Knock Life we were singing another song called Maybe. We sang Maybe around the piano and sang it and then we went through the process again and then they told us we were going to ACT with a script! So we got lines and when that was all done they said “100 girls tried out, 30 girls came to callbacks and only 19 of you are in the play here are the names of the girls in the play.” All the girls were as jumpie as me and my name and 18 other girls’ names were called and one of my best friends Maddie got in too. Then they told us they thought we all sounded great and that they would email us the next night to Thursday what our parts are and that’s how I got into Annie.
